The mighty Cheeseburger pie is a recent addition to our “Garage Pies” series! Encased in pie pastries and baked till golden and flakey, the dish consists of flame-grilled patties, sautéed onions and mushrooms, and a homemade burger BBQ sauce. Indulge in this beloved South African dish.
Recipe makes 6 Pies
∙ 1kg Beef mince( Don’t use lean beef, the patty will be too dry)
∙ 500 grams of Pork sausages (Pork bangers)
∙ Salt & Pepper
∙ 1½ tablespoons onion powder
∙ 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
∙ Gouda cheese
∙ Egg for eggwash
Sauteed Onions & Mushrooms
∙ 4 onions
∙ 250 grams of White button mushrooms
∙ 3-4 Garlic cloves
∙ Salt & pepper
∙ ½ tablespoon dried thyme
∙ Oil
Burger BBQ sauce
∙ ¾ cup Peach chutney
∙ 1 cup tomato sauce(ketchup)
∙ ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
∙ 2 tablespoons Hot German mustard
Pastries
For the bottom of the pie, we used store-bought SHORTCRUST pastry
For the top of the pie we used store-bought PUFF pastry

Ja asb, n streak en kidney, sal so bly wees, dit en pepper steak is altyg my keuse, alhoewel ek baie hou van sausage roll maar ek kry nooit meer n lekker een nie, toe ek op Hoerskool was in Rustenburg (Transvaal) het Avontrus bakery sausage rolls gemaak wat alles oortref het, die geur en smaak was onvergeetlik, die resep is verlore saam met die destydse bakkery eienaar, hoop een van julle kykers onthou daai bakkery en resep
