Always need to eat some yakitori each trip, this time visiting Yakitori Omino. Chef Omino apprenticed at famed yakitori restaurant Torishiki for 6 years before opening his own restaurant with 2 branch restaurants as well. They serve high quality skewers, sourcing date dori chickens from Fukushima like Torishiki. It is omakase style with no menu, we only choose the type of rice dish we want at the end and when we wish to stop like.
Managed to snag a lunch time solo spot when reservations slots opened. Restaurant is closish to tokyo skytre and was pretty easy to get to from my hotel via subway. Arrived a little before my reservation but the restaurant had already started serving for 20+ minutes. Counter seats 15and no private dining rooms. It was a full service with the restaurant full of chatter between different parties, about 1/3 of us were foreigners.
There were quite a few people running the kitchen but only one person manning the grill. Sitting behind him to the side I caught a glimpse at the chef’s focus and speed when working, managing different timings for different guests making sure each skewer cooked perfectly. Rest of the team were there to assist and tend to diners needs, typical service level I would expect from an establishment like this.
I had a large breakfast but managed to eat most of the dishes available for lunch. Overall impression of the meal was Omino offers a premium yakitori experience. Didn’t have a bad dish and the consistency in a busy environment was great. Comparing to other yakitori like Yakitori Shinohara or Torisawa Nakameguro I thought it was a bit better but not significantly. Lunch cost about ¥15,000, with the amount of food provided I thought it was an acceptable price. Yakitori Omino is definitely easier to book than Torishiki, it is definitely worth a visit and I could easily revisit in future trips

At 15K, did you say ‘STOP’ or finish whatever they gave you ?
I paid around 10K but I asked to STOP because I couldn’t continue due to the big lunch earlier
Omino and Sushisho Masa are places I’d love to bring my brother. I’ll probably tap out halfway while he’ll crush it. Ha!
