My aunt decorates cakes for a living and she always freezes her cakes before frosting them, it helps the frosting for on smoother and prevents the crumb coat from sticking through. I’m not sure if you wanted the look of a “naked cake” but I like it. Cakes definitely take practice, you’re doing really good for your first time. If you want any advice on a smoother look, I would suggest looking up tutorials. That has definitely helped me lots. I always have such a hard time getting a cold crumb coat, and I can never cut the cake slices to be even, but it’s a long process to perfection. You’re doing really good 👍
