There’s a new studio kitchen in the Mile Square. Atelier Sucré provides recreational French baking and cooking classes at 720 Monroe Street in the Monroe Center in Hoboken. The studio welcomes students of all experience levels and provides all the equipment and tools necessary to create delicious French pastries and treats. Read on to learn more about Atelier Sucré in Hoboken and its French culinary workshops.

About Atelier Sucré
Atelier Sucré is located at the Monroe Center in Hoboken at 720 Monroe Street, Unit #C514. The studio is a welcoming space filled with natural light from its windows. Chef Simon Herfray, the owner and head chef of Atelier Sucré, opened the first location in NYC in 2014. The business relocated to the East Village, at 104 East 7th Street, in 2019, providing both group and private classes. Now Chef Simon has opened a second location in Hoboken, following the same group and private classes concept.

Classes can take anywhere between 2 1/2 to 3 hours. French cuisine involves a lot of techniques and can be time-consuming. From learning how to bake croissants to understanding the precision it takes to make macarons, each class requires time and patience.

Chef Simon shared with The Hoboken Girl his reason for opening Atelier Sucré. “I wanted to show people how much time and effort it takes to make pastries. A good part of the class focuses on technique,” he said. “It makes people develop a greater appreciation for these things because they see how much effort and technique is involved.”

Classes

When booking a class at Atelier Sucré, there are a variety of choices. Among its most popular is the Bake Your Own French Croissant class. Other classes include gluten-free French macarons, French tarts and madeleines, and savory options like New York bagels and homemade pasta and pizza.
The kitchen opens 10 minutes before the listed class time, and classes begin promptly at the scheduled time. Students work in groups of four (maximum), and classes are designed for participants ages 14 and up. All classes are BYOB. Click here to view class schedules.
