I agree with you. Jerky is just too easy to make to buy it in the store.
Only reason why i do still purchase store jerky once in a while is if i see something new.

I stopped using marinades altogether.
I use a curing seasoning by a company called Hi-Mountain, out of Wyoming, and it’s unbelievably good. And they have a ton of flavors, the Original and Cajun are my go to’s, and it never lasts long when I make it.
The problem with marinades is the recipes seem to all be soy sauce based and that’s all you taste. Maybe there some good ones out there, but none of the ones I tried tasted like anything but soy sauce.
