Is deep dish supposed to look like this? They have at least a thousand reviews and 4.5 stars, but the pizza looks burnt in several of the google photos…

I’d say it looks suspicious, but I’d need to taste it. Innocent until proven guilty, in my view. It does look a bit weird though, the crust specifically.

Some people will say it’s burnt others will say it’s caramelized. It’s like a Chicago pan/detroit hybrid made famous by Burt Katz. Is this from Lefty’s?

    Not a crime

It doesn’t look good but it might taste good

Downvoted, not a pizza crime. Certain Chicago Deep Dish style pizzas have more caramelized butter crusts that look burnt but actually aren’t and they are edible. They take slightly longer to cook too but the cheese closest to these “burnt” edges is divine. Yes, it’s usually under the sauce. Pequod’s in Chicago is my favorite spot.

Edit: Objection in defense of the pizza, speculation. The post flair assumes the pizza is burnt which it very well could not be.

Look, I might be high… but this looks kind of good?

The first and fourth pictures look eh, little soupy and pic one does look a little burnt (could be the lighting), but the middle two pies look perfect.

Why not try it with your mouth instead of a court of public opinion.

Is this Pequod’s? If it is, it looks sketchy but it tastes so damn good.

  10. That last pizza might not be a true pizza, but I can tell you I would absolutely fucking destroy that right now, goddamn all that MEATY and CHEESY goodness 🤤

Looks like Chicago style pizza. Not a crime.

Windy City Pie in Seattle.  It’s delicious.  It’s definitely not burnt.  Burnt tastes bitter, that is caramelization. It tastes rich, nutty and almost buttery.  Very good stuff.

May not be pretty but I’m sure the pies are good

Pequod’s in Chicago is known for this and I really want to try it!

These don’t really resemble pizza at all to me. More like some kinds of pie or stewed dishes.

They still look pretty yummy though, so innocent, but maybe with parole

Last one looked kinda good ngl and I’m from NY

They may taste good, but the real crime here is the presentation. Does that 2nd one have carrots on it? That would certainly be criminal but the biggest offender to me is the white one, it looks like vomit on a crust.
