For the first time in five years, the Journal Sentinel presents Milwaukee’s Top 25 Restaurants, this year from new dining critic Rachel Bernhard.
Cassis, the new French bistro planned to open in the fall at 333 N. Water St., made Bon Appetit’s list of the 9 Must-Visit Restaurants to Try in 2025.
Bon Appetit tracks restaurant openings throughout the year and has chosen this list as the ones that stand out. The list was published in alphabetical order and includes restaurants opening in California, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington, D.C.
Birch owners Meghan and Kyle Knall are behind the new restaurant.
Cassis will be a 5,175-square-foot French-themed restaurant that seats around 200 guests. It’ll be in the 333 Water apartment tower, which opened last summer.
The menu includes brasserie classics like moules frites, escargots, charcuterie, seafood and other traditional French dishes.
Knall was named a semifinalist in the James Beard Foundation Awards in the Best Chef: Midwest category in 2024 and Outstanding Chef, a national category, in 2022.
