HOLLAND, MI – Adults interested in expanding their cooking skills and learning new recipes can now take culinary enrichment courses through the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD).

“Many people are now cooking for entertainment, not just out of necessity,” said Joe Carmolli, culinary and pastry arts instructor for Careerline Tech Center (CTC). “These culinary enrichment classes are an affordable way to learn a new skill in the kitchen or just have fun with friends and family.”

Classes are taught at the tech center in the newly renovated culinary lab during evening hours and cover a variety of topics including: cooking techniques 101, Mediterranean appetizers, wood fired pizzas, and a three-part introduction to cake decorating.

Near the holidays, OAISD officials say gingerbread house classes will be offered for both adults and kids ages six to 14.

Registration is currently open for culinary classes. All one-night classes are $55 while the three-part cake decorating class is $95. A 10 percent discount is available when two people sign up at the same time. All classes are listed on the website. Those interested can register by calling 616-738-8950 extension 4200.
