Hi Cookie Decorators, So quick question. I’ve made finished baking the Avatar cookies today (Chocolate, lemon blueberry, chai spice, London fog and apple), but except for the chocolate ones they all have an indented design from the cookie cutter. This will be my first time using royal icing and none of the videos, articles or Reddit posts have mentioned that. In terms of decorating them what should I do? Do I just flood them normally? Should I use the indent somehow? Does it change anything? Whatever tips you could give would be great.

Thanks

I say fill in the lines with their respective colors. Light blue for water and green for earth.

When I use cookie cutters like this, I like to fill in the indents with my icing! Using a slightly more “flood-y” icing works well cause it settles right into the indent.

It can make fun contrast (like chocolate cookies with white icing) and it makes decorating a whole lot easier! I do that for when I have friends over and I want to make nice cookies but I don’t have the patience for full decorating!
