This week Fountain Inn will see the grand opening of not one, but two new downtown restaurants.

Maverick Biscuit and Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar will officially open Friday at 10 a.m. at 113 N. Weston St., the former location of Orion’s. The restaurants had a soft opening on Monday. 

Brothers and co-owners Sergio and Ricardo Briceno have brought their loves for breakfast and Italian cuisine together for this new venture. 

“My brother is the breakfast chef. That was his dream,” Sergio Briceno said of the restaurant combination. “I’m the Italian guy.”

Maverick Biscuit is the newer of the two concepts, the first having opened 5 years ago in Taylors, said Briceno, and now they own locations in Inman, Mauldin and Fountain Inn. The first Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar opened 20 years ago. Today, in addition to the new Fountain Inn location, there are locations in Cherrydale, Lexington, and Myrtle Beach.

Briceno said Fountain Inn appealed to them as a small, but growing community.

“We just love it out here, how the community is so small,” Briceno said of Fountain Inn. “You get to know everybody personally.”

Maverick Biscuit will be open for breakfast and brunch in the mornings, and then the restaurant will be flipped for dinner service with Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar. 

Some of the menu highlights at Maverick Biscuit include scratch made Southern style biscuits and gravies and a jam bar full of house made condiments. Travinia specializes in Northern Italian fare and everything but the pasta is also made in house. 

“Everything we do, we do from scratch,” Briceno said. 

Both restaurants also have menus that accommodate a variety of diets with gluten free pastas and biscuits being offered as well as vegan dishes.  

Following the grand opening, Maverick Biscuit will be open from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar will be open from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
