I was looking for a recipe for bulgogi and came across… whatever this is.

It’s from Sysco. So. That explains a lot

Is this a bad thing? It resembles bibimbap

It looks like what an AI thinks bulgogi looks like.

You know it’s a great recipe when it specifies that all your ingredients need to be the same brand
victorkm
Yeah it just looks like a ridiculously specific recipe for bibimbap.
For bulgogi you’ll want a quarter of a Korean pear and failing that a quarter of an apple, a bit more than half that weight of onion, a couple few cloves of garlic, 6/3/2/1/.5 tbsp soy sauce/mirin or sake/sugar/sesame oil/oyster sauce, blend with a third cup of water. Freeze a ribeye steak for 30 minutes to an hour then slice thin. Marinate up to a day in the fridge then either grill or pan fry on medium heat. When close to done throw a thin sliced quarter to half an onion in and some thin sliced spring onions, garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot. Credit to Chris Cho for the proportions.

It looks like someone tried to make bibimbap based only on a single blurry photo

Why so many brands? Are they sponsored?
Edit: yes, didn’t see the Sysco part 🤦♂️ But what is Sysco?

I’m just going to pretend I didn’t see this at all

Corporate food thought they could fool everyone: see, there’s kimchi. It’s Korean! /s

That is the most branded recipe I’ve ever seen, even the produce and salt and pepper??? Guess they don’t make Imperial Kimchi or grow Imperial mushrooms. Who uses 1 tbsp each of fresh mushrooms? That’s absurd.

That is an abomination… my halmeoni is rolling over in her grave.

I mean… I’d eat it.

Oh, you know it’s authentic when the first ingredient is “Sysco Classic Bulgogi chef starter sauce”. Just like 할머니 would use. lol.
Now I’m waiting for someone to post that exact pic with the title “Homemade bulgogi! How’d I do?” with no comments, and get 25 upvotes.
