I typically do Lambrusco with my red pies and “Orange” wines with my white or vodka pies.
I used to be a “Oh pizza and beer only” type of guy, but I guess after making pizza the last few years, the ingredients had a talk with my taste buds and said I was minimizing the experience.

Big fan. I’m knowledgeable about Sonoma County wines but clueless with Italian wines. Do you have any specific bottle recommendations? I do have some ribolla gialla from Bannister in AV, which I really like but isn’t Italian, just the grape.

All we do in the summer is patio pizza Fridays with our friends. If you bring a bottle of wine to share, you get pizza. Love it. I’ll match the toppings to the wine. Sangiovese, Nebbiolos, rossos from Etna, Super Tuscans – all great. And that’s just the Italians.

Wine with pizza is great. However, my personal favorite with pizza might well be a Negroni or an Americano.

I usually pair it with chianti or a Cabernet Sauvignon and it’s my favorite combo! Especially with a cheese pie with pepperoni, jalapeño, and hot honey
