Making (and my first time trying) boyfriend’s fav childhood dish – pierogies, kielbasa, and kraut. Pierogies filled with roasted garlic mash, caramelized onion and sharp cheddar.

bf and i got to talking about our favorite childhood meals last night. his was pierogies and i’ve never tried them before but i’m a sucker for everything dumpling + mashed potato related. made them for dinner as surprised after a long day at work for him. 🙂 10/10

[https://www.recipetineats.com/pierogi-ruskie-polish-dumplings/](https://www.recipetineats.com/pierogi-ruskie-polish-dumplings/) – used this for the dough recipe. added 1 large head of roasted garlic, 1 large onion worth of caramelized onion, and freshly grated parm + sharp cheddar to the potato mixture.

cooked a little of bacon, then browned kielbasa, and then sautéed the pierogies in the same pan.

I love having Kapusta over garlic mashed potatoes! You did an amazing job OP. My Ukrainian mother would be proud. You nailed everything.

  3. OP, this looks and sounds amazing. Was it very time-consuming to make the dough?

Looks amazing. And the heart-shaped ramekin is so cute

Those are some seriously beautiful pierogies!! I love pierogies too, I usually fill mine with sauerkraut. I haven’t made them in a long time but you’ve inspired me, I think I’m gonna make some this weekend!

    They look amazing!!! Great job!

I’ve been eating pierogi for a long time, but I made them for the 1st time just last month. The dough was surprisingly easy to work with, I was afraid because I tried hand rolling pasta a few weeks before and it was rough – sore arms for a few days 😅

I love sauerkraut filled pierogi too!

I acknowledge as a plain white American, I often make too much of our specific European ancestry, I am forever grateful as an Irish American descendant for marrying into a Polish American family to enjoy dishes exactly like this beauty. Perfection!
