Bought a new home recently and the previous owner left their Weber grill. It looks pretty rusty, super dirty inside. I’ve never owned a grill before. Is this able to be cleaned or would it just be better to save the hassle and buy a new one? I’m planning to swap out the propane tank since this one looks pretty old (it doesn’t feel empty though).
I bought some grill cleaner and a steel wool brush. Dunno if that’ll be enough to clean this..

Yep. Looks like it could be as good as it’s ever been.
30 minutes of cleaning or buy some parts that fit off amazon, 1million% worth either
Honestly you don’t know have any common sense so give the filthy grill to someone who knows what to do with it and better you either dine out or order in
Set it out by the curb, I’ll be by in 10 to pick it up.
Take a plastic paint scraper and scrape off most of the gunk on the grease pan (4th picture). You can also scrape off the firebox. The foil grease tray looks like it has holes but it’s meant to be disposable. Replace that. Other than that it looks like it’s in great condition.
You win.
Put the parts in garbage bags and spray several cans of oven cleaner in there. Leave for a day then hose and scrape.
It’s not worth cleaning at all. Let me know where it is I’ll come haul it away for you.🤣
Yes
Yes
100%. grab a shopvac
Yes, after your clean it, flip the grates over. They’re upside down, the flat side is the top
Is this a troll? I’d be cooking in that thing as-is.
Never mind the haters here, that’s a great bonus on your new home! Everything there is salvageable, maybe new flavorizers if you want (3rd picture). A plastic scraper, some simple green, and elbow grease and that’s got a LOT of life left in it. And it will be markedly better than any cheapo grill from Walmart.
I think the grates are technically upside down. A little reseasoning on them and they’ll be fine.
Nothing wrong with that propane tank, but swapping is pretty common. Refilling is cheaper if you can find a local place that does it. I do suggest having two tanks, that way you can swap over quickly if one goes dry.
Couldn’t figure out how to edit my post.
OK thanks guys Haha. I felt stupid for asking. I am currently starting to deep clean this so I can try grilling on it later this week.
100% YES!!! Little elbow grease and you’ll be in good shape.
0000 steel.wool and some mild cleaner on the outside, and it’ll shine like new.
Source: I have this exact model and color. Lol
Lucky
This can’t be a real question….
Scraper and a nice steamer will look like new.
Weber put out a pretty great and straightforward video on cleaning a gas grill. https://youtu.be/ezXMv-lxpAw?si=aCPfdt4XgirihkFj
The only part that’s sketchy is he cleans the grates with a cheap wire brush. Those can be dangerous if the metal fibers fall out. The official Weber brush works great and lasts a long time.
That’s not even dirty
Definitely. It’s clean enough to cook in now. Just hose off the grates.
You came up son
That isn’t even dirty
Best grill I ever owned, built for longevity. Also the easiest to grill on, results are reliably good.
Looks better than the one on my patio I use every week.
It looks fine to me. Have you just tried to light it and see how it burns?
Absolutely
Not worth it at all, should just trash it . Send me a private message and I’ll dispose of it for you.
You have to be kidding. You can easily order some new graters and burners, orange degreaser and you’re ready to go. I’d order a new hose and regulator too just to be on the safe side.
Absolutely, that Weber will outlast damn near any other grill on the market with some maintenance.
Propane tank worth $50
That thing is barely broken in!!
Yes. That’s barely even dirty
Cook some troll burgers on there Gary
I love that so many people had the same reaction as my “that’s not even that dirty” one.
It even a question, clean that shit. It looks better than mine already
Umm they may as well have left you 400$ cash on the counter
I’ve cooked on worse.
I’d replace the grates with the stainless steel ones and replace the flavorizer bars. Basically band new grill then.
