Homemade breadsticks / grissini – EP 4 from scratch

This is a banger of a recipe and SO simple. I promise you if you make it once, you’ll keep making it and storing it every week!

– In 130 mL warm water, add 1 tsp honey and 1/2 tsp active dry yeast and let it activate. Cover for 15 mins.
– To this, add 200g of plain flour / maida and start mixing it till it’s a shaggy dough
– Now add 1 tbsp olive oil, salt to taste and any other seasonings you like. I’ve used mixed Italian herbs and chilli flakes.
– Knead for 6-7 mins till smooth and cover and keep in a warm place till it doubles in size.
– Punch it down and roll it out evenly.
– Cut into strips and roll each strip out with the help of fine semolina (baarik rava)
– Place on a greased parchment and spray with olive oil.
– You can even season it externally at this point – sesame seeds, chilli, etc.
– bake at 200C for 22 mins till golden and crispy.
– Let them cool down and store in an airtight container for 2 weeks 🙂
