La Loma Mexican restaurant opens in Upper Arlington
The first Columbus location of Akron/Canton-based Mexican restaurant La Loma recently opened for dine-in and carryout. Classic Mexican dishes including tacos, enchiladas and fajitas are on the menu, as are some enticing chef’s specials. And be sure to save room for dessert: La Loma’s Akron location has a bakery on-site, so the founders have experience in this realm. A grand opening and ribbon cutting is scheduled Sat., Aug. 3, at 3051 Northwest Blvd.
Harvest Clintonville shares progress on recovery from fire
After temporarily shutting down following its second fire in two years earlier this month, Harvest Clintonville shared on Instagram that the business is “making fantastic strides.” The account reports that the building on North High Street just south of Kelso Road is structurally sound, and the staff is focused on cleaning and repairs. Harvest does not yet have a firm timeline for reopening in Clintonville, and encourages diners to visit its restaurants in Bexley, the Brewery District, Dublin or Granville while the location recovers.
Watershed releases music-themed cocktail menu
Watershed Distillery, 1145 Chesapeake Ave. in the Fifth By Northwest neighborhood, recently released a new cocktail menu that’s almost as fun to flip through as it is is to drink from. Characterized by musical genre, the themed libations such as the DIY Basement Show (made with mezcal and nocino, and classified as “metal”) and the Bourbon Street Brass Band (exactly what it sounds like) are sure to rock some taste buds. A newly released $12 bar bites menu may help things go down smoother.
Olympics in Ohio
If watching the Paris Olympics has you thinking about French food, Columbus has some great options. La Chatelaine French Bakery & Bistro has sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options. For a fancier French meal, The Refectory Restaurant offers multicourse meals and expert wine pairings led by the restaurant’s new sommelier, Brian Godfrey. Or make a plan now to keep the Olympic spirit alive after the closing ceremonies: The anticipated new Downtown French bistro Chouette is now taking reservations prior to its opening; bookings are available beginning Aug. 13.
