Hey everyone!
My Carolina Reaper plant (started from seed in January) has started producing quite a few small flowers. I’m super excited – it’s my first time growing hot peppers!

What should I do at this stage? Do I need to help with pollination, or just let it do its thing? Any tips for maximizing fruit production?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Unless you will be putting it outside, help it pollinate.

Peppers are self-fertile, but the anthers (the structure that contains the pollen) are built like tiny salt shakers. They need to be agitated a bit to expel the pollen. An oscillating fan would do the trick. Just kinda shaking the plant would help. Sonication works as well: like an electric toothbrush or if you want to get fancy, a tuning fork. A few hungry bumblebees would do the trick as well . [Buzz Pollination](https://youtu.be/SZrTndD1H10?si=b_VN4M-DLUPHXF05)
