I got this Traeger for free from a good friend of mine . He also got it for free from his neighbor. Now, my friend never cleaned this thing in the 3 or 4 years he had it and he cooked 2 or 3 meals a week on it. First thing I’m doing is doing a deep clean on this thing found a fucking dog tag in it! The tag was towards the bottom of all the build up.
Question is should I finish cleaning it and continue on like it doesn’t matter that someone used it to cremate their pet?
Also, should I tell my wife I found a dog tag in it? Cause she most likely will not let me use it to cook our food in it. Or possibly refuse to eat it.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

Adds flavor 😉, maybe they just burned a collar
I would ask your “good friend” if they cooked their dog……

I don’t think any of us can tell you what your grill was used for.
What I can tell you is this – crematoriums fire at about 1400-1800 degrees, about 3x hotter than the smoker will ever reach. If someone DID try to do this to a pet, it would probably have taken many, many days of firing and wouldn’t produce the same ash that would be produced by a crematorium.
Harold are the dogs done yet?
Is there a phone number on the tag?
Where is the writing on the tag?
Meat prices have been rising maybe he sourced some free range meat
It’s certainly alarming, but that’s just our imagination getting the better of us. Most people have a decent relationship with their pets, the most likely thing is that it fell in while not attached to anything or some other innocent series of events that lead to this. Esp because kids fucking love to put shit in other shit just because.
It would be impossible to cremate a dog in a pellet grill. You could certainly cook one, but not cremate one. There are other possible explanations for how the tag ended up in there. And if nobody really cleaned it, it wouldn’t be hard to miss it.
Do you happen to get it from a Haitian living in or near Springfield OH?
You from Springfield OH?
That can’t get to the 1500° it takes to cremate anything, but definitely give a good cleaning!!
Just toss it and keep on cleaning
You need to tell his kids right away.

Could your friend be playing a joke on you?
A dog likely jumped up to steal food and ripped his tag off. Even people (cultures) that eat dogs certainly don’t cook them whole with fur on, let alone collars.
