The more I watch this show the more out of touch Nicole seems… I love you Nicole but you say some wild things.
Cookies are clearly not dessert, they are fika 100%
y'all just reminded me of banana Nesquick mix. I used to love the fake banana flavor.
'Fruit does not belong in dessert.' Weren't there recent dental articles saying how finishing a meal with fruit can decrease likelihood of cavities?
I think I would be throwing things at hosh after five minutes of him purpousfuly misprouncing things
A cookie is not a dessert. It is not eaten as the closure of a multiple course meal. It is eaten with tea or coffee in the after noon or generally as a snack and cookies also had and still have their use as portable, packable food. But also, for you americans a "cookie" is a little bit of a different thing than for the Dutch or us Germans. Something that you would call a digestive biscuit, to us falls under the same category as cookie: somethink baked, sweet or somewhat sweet, defnitely not savory, and typically small, not moist and not fluffy.
But similarly, to us Germans "Kuchen" (our concept of "cake") is not a dessert in the first place. At least it isn't thought of it as that. It is its own category and has its own occasion for being eaten. It's the afternoon coffe or tee, which is commonly referred to as "Kaffee und Kuchen" (coffee and cake). So consuming cake isnits own thing, its own ritual and it is seperate from the procipal meals of the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Of course cakes can amd do get served as desserts in Germany, but is not the first thing we thonk of when thinking of cake. Typcial deserts to us would be: a mousse au chocolat, ice cream, more or less nicely plated with toppings and decorated, panna cotta, crème brulée, rice pudding or some other sweet pudding.
YOOO! The iceberg lettuce over celery person is saving my life! I recently figured out I'm allergic to celery, and have been missing it a ton.
No it is Fika. End of Discussion
Lower Decks! Lower Decks!
C is cookie 🍪
a cookie is either a sweet treat or a dessert, I grew up with my grandmother (a Mexican woman) had a cookie jar and we (grew up poor) would grab cookies as snacks or for dessert or even just to munch on along with ice cream. They were always a varient of oreo (be it name brand or mexican type/ off brand).
Cookies are usually a snack, but I have had them for dessert.
I eat cake anytime of day too.
Old people are usually predictable if your paying attention
Ok this duo is my new duo to watch on Youtubessszzzz.
Absolutely dessert is a cultural ritual based around dinner. I’ve never ordered cookies for dessert. Yet I will take a cookie with me out into the world as a snack.
Yoda sounded way more like Grover than Cookie Monster.
I am a Boomer and I grew up in a very middle class, blue collar household and we always had a cookie jar. I will always remember trying to be quiet opening the lid on a ceramic cookie jar….lol. My family was from the midwest and I think everyone including farmers had cookie jars. And most of the time they were homemade cookies, so maybe it was more of a Boomer thing.
AND…cookies are a dessert, a snack, an appetizer, a lunch, breakfast, or dinner!!!
It’s natural for Cookie Monster to morph into Yoda because Frank Oz was the voice actor for both characters.
Yes. All sweet things are a dessert
I think what delineates a snack vs dessert is the sweet placement in time proximity to the meal. If it occurs during the mealtime it’s dessert, if it requires going back outside of the mealtime serving time, it’s a sweet treat/snack
Millennial here grew up lower class and yeah, no cookie jar..
I love Korean food but I hate banchan. The only pickled food I enjoy is pickled red onions, and only in small quantities.
Also avocado is gross but guacamole is wonderful
So…. Is a pazookie (warm cookie with ice cream on top) dessert ?
I watched cookie monster before cable TV was invented. Love you guys ❤
I’m actually SO happy you guys brought up Chili’s! I just learned they got rid of their buy one get one drink deal, how are me and the girls going to debrief over margaritas and a triple dipper combo without the buy one get one?! The waitress said if we complain enough they’ll change it 😂
Also Josh made me decide a cookie is a snack
Lettuce tastes like sad. Keep it out of my gumbo and jambalaya!
Okay, but hear me out, in some cultures lunch is the main meal of the day. Not dinner.
I do agree with Josh because other countries desserts are fruits like oranges, strawberries and so on. Like Japan and other countries. I'm not saying that they don't eat chocolate or sugar products but you would be amazed about what they are considering desserts. Other countries if you would say desserts they don't have desserts so to them they would have no idea what you are talking about. It's really fascinating.
Nailed it
Like the Kayan tribe in Myanmar don't have desserts it's foreign to them, pretty interesting I would say.
Nailed it
@1:05 fun fact! Frank Oz was the original voice of both Cookie Monster and Yoda 😁
a cookie is a snack that can be served as dessert
If I go to my local chain restaurant of favorite bar that serves the best burgers, and they have cookies on the menu, they're under the "Desserts" category. Therefore, cookies are desserts
Thumbs up for the KOTH tangent. Its coming back!
