NORTHAMPTON — Oui, oui! Suzette French Creperie, a French-inspired eatery, has opened its doors in Thornes Marketplace.
Owned and operated by French-born Jean-Luc Wittner and his wife, Evelyn Darling, Suzette French Creperie offers an authentic French culinary experience, with a variety of delicious crepes, macarons and frozen to-go dishes.
“We are thrilled to bring a piece of France to Northampton,” Wittner said. “Our goal is to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where customers can enjoy high-quality, authentic French food.”
The menu features a range of savory and sweet options, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. Items include the Bastille (ham, cheese, mustard and white sauce); the Parisian (bacon, ham, cheese, mushrooms and tomato sauce); The Viking (smoked salmon, spinach, avocado spread and sour cream); and many more.

Vegetarian options include the truffled mushroom (mushrooms, spinach, white sauce and truffle oil), and vegan options are available, too.
Vegan options are also available, such as the Eiffel Power, with vegan cheese, spinach and roasted eggplant.
For those with a sweet tooth, the creperie offers a variety of sweet crepes, including the Nutella, Elvis and Fat Elvis, with ingredients like bacon, bananas, peanut butter and honey.

Additionally, Wittner said his upbringing in France played a significant role in his desire to cook French cuisine and own French eateries.
“Obsessed with the memory of the smells and flavors of my childhood, I had a dream to open a creperie in the U.S.,” Wittner said. “After arriving in Massachusetts in 2011, I worked in restaurants and cafes for several years to understand how Americans eat out. I can now say that I am the perfect combination of the French tradition and the American way.”
Wittner and Darling also own Suzette Creperie and Cafe in Worcester.

He was inspired to be a French chef by noted American author, television personality and chef Julia Child, who graduated from Northampton’s Smith College in 1934.
Wittner is confident that there’s something for everyone at Suzette French Creperie.
“We have over 20 different crepe recipes, including gluten-free options,” Wittner said. “We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy a delicious French meal.”
For those looking to try French food for the first time, Wittner highly recommends starting with one of the macarons, a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond meal and often food coloring.
“Whether you are looking for a full meal at an affordable price — yes, we fill up our crepes — an afternoon snack or a nice sweet treat, we will bring the French tradition right onto your plate,” Wittner said.

Suzette French Creperie is now open on the first floor of Thornes Marketplace at 150 Main St., Suite 130. Thornes has been in business since 1873.
“Suzette French Creperie is a wonderful addition to Thornes Marketplace and the Northampton community,” said Jody Doele, marketing manager for Thornes. “We are excited to have them on board and look forward to seeing the impact they will have on our downtown area.”
