Today I made carnitas from scratch and prepared a salsa and hot sauce while the meat was chillin' in the oven. I dont know what the distinction is between a hot sauce or a salsa, so I just posted both pictures.

Oh mah gawd!

* 3-6 tomatoes (depends on size)
* 1 red onion
* 1 red pepper
* 2 tbsp cilantro
* 1 garlic clove
* Juice from a lime and lemon
* 1,5 tbsp tomato puree
* Fresh chili
* ½ dl olive oil
* 2 tbsp soya sauce
* 2 tsp ground cumin
* 1 tsp sugar
* Salt and pepper to taste
Chop everything small or blend whatever you dont wanna chop by hand. It all depends on preference! No heating elements in play here, just mix it all together and let it sit till you can’t stop yourself from eating it.
I personally love red onions and garlic, so I usually double the amount. I use mild chilis because my family doesnt like too much heat, but if I make it for myself I’ll throw in the spiciest chilis I can find.
A lot of salsa recipes grill/cook the peppers and vegs. I personally enjoy the more “fresh” taste, though both kinds of salsas are amazing anyway lol.
Both look fantastic! And the pickled onions are inspiring me to make some!
