I seared the steak on the stove with butter, olive oil, and thyme, then finished it in the oven. I cooked fresh onions and paprika on the stove in the steak juices, added heavy cream and spices (like curry, paprika, garlic herbs, etc.), and let it simmer until it thickened and turned golden. That’s when I knew it was ready to serve! I am a beginner btw…

I mean sure, I wouldn’t request my steak be cooked this much but I’d power through. If I’m going to a restaurant absolutely not they’re remaking it but if I’m at home I’m not a picky person, I just ate a plate of microwaved mozzarella sticks, can’t be any worse lol

  2. wharf_rat_92

Absolutely, but then again, I’m one of those psychopaths who doesn’t mind a fully cooked steak 😅😅😅

  3. Advanced-Sink-7806

Eh, I always prefer a medium rare but I’m not a snob about it. Pasta looks tasty, there’s seasonings, and you let your flavors get to know each other. I’d dig in!

  4. Front-Bicycle-9049

Would I cook it like that? No.(I like steak more rare) But hell yeah I would eat that all day and love it if someone cooked it for me, looks good!

  5. It’s a little over for me but I would definitely eat that steak. Looks juicy!

  6. FattusBaccus

Not my favorite temp but unless it looks miserably dry I’ll eat it. Yours still looks like it’s got some juice left in it.

  7. BeefStu907

Chop it up really fine and mix it into the pasta probably but should still taste decent.

  8. SSJChugDude

Yes, I’m not a steak elitist. Would I have mine cooked well done? No, but you enjoy what you enjoy!

Funny thing is when I was really into bodybuilding I heard some bro science that said you can absorb more protein from well done steak on account of humans evolving to eat fully cooked meals. So there was a while there where I’d get my steaks well done. Is there any validity to this? No clue but I usually get my steaks medium rare nowadays.

  9. rainydaze0

omg that’s not pasta lol that’s a hearty ass serving of onions & peps

  10. yummybaozi

I would not eat this voluntarily. But i dont want to waste food either.

  11. MarsaliRose

Personally no but that’s bc my tmj 😂 my steak gotta be soft as butter

  12. Later_instigator

The sear looks great but too well done for me. I like a least a little redness

  13. steve_nice

what ever that pasta is it looks good af, would def eat the steak too

  14. FederalLobster5665

yes, i usually end up overcooking my steak. as long as its not too chewy, im good (and if it is, ill still eat it)

  15. I like my steak medium rare. This is definitely well done. But its still steak, and I’ve had some damn good well done steak when its seasoned well, so I’d for sure eat it.

  16. MooseRunnerWrangler

Ehh looks overcooked for my taste, but if it was made for me at home, sure. I wouldn’t pay for it at a restaurant though.

  17. birdsbooksbirdsbooks

Would I eat it? Yes. Is it cooked to my liking? No.

  18. Illustrious_Age3185

I’ve fucked up enough steaks to be willing to eat any cook level 😂.

Looks like a nice cut of meat regardless, which is what really matters.

  19. doggydogworld24

I mean I WOULD, but I wouldn’t enjoy it. It’d fill my stomach and make a turd. I prefer my steak medium rare.

  20. I am just assuming, but I imagine that you put it in the oven and then got caught up with cooking everything else and then the steak was in the oven too long. That’s okay! It happens.

What I would suggest taking away from this experience is that you can never do too much preparation (cutting everything before cooking, having pasta noodles already par-cooked, letting the steak rest while you get everything else done so when it goes into the oven, you can check on it regularly, etc.).

Over time, you’ll learn how long each item takes to cook and how much care each item needs (frequently tossing and stirring to prevent burning vs. leaving something to brown). This way, you’ll be able to plan and say, “I shouldn’t put the pasta into the sauce yet because it only takes like 2 minutes or else it becomes too soft”, “I shouldn’t put the heat too high or the sauce will burn.”, “I should sear the steak after I chop because chopping requires my full attention”, “I should pull the steak out a little sooner than I expect because it’ll cook a little more after it’s out”, all that stuff. It’ll come with time!

    Happy cooking!

  21. Odd_Engineering_7947

If I had to eat it I would😅 but the steak is waaay overdone.

  22. If you’re not happy with it and were shooting for a lower internal, invest in an instant read thermo. Good ones are fairly cheap. It will change your life.

  23. cycloneruns

Looks like a good crust. More cooked than I prefer so in this case I’d probably opt to chop it up and mix it all together but either way, yes.

  24. AnonAstro7524

“Would you eat this?” and “Is this cooked well?” are two VERY different questions.

You don’t waste food, it is definitely edible. Doesn’t look like it’s going to make it into my memory as the end-all-be-all of meals that we must make again though.

  25. billding1234

Sure. It’s not my preference but if it tastes good it tastes good.

People on this sub get hyper focused on how steak looks. That’s important, but how it looks and how it tastes can be two totally different things. A perfectly seared medium rare select quality sirloin will probably not taste as good as a pallid, medium well prime ribeye.

  26. ABCWeekendSpecial

It’s only ever so slightly overcooked, but depending on the seasoning and crust and texture could be delicious..

More importantly , **What precisely is that side item? Is it caramelized peppers and onions in some sort of curry paste?**. Looks delicious.

  27. Bizzletworph

Depends on how many days I had gone without anything else to eat.

  28. troyberber

Ugh. This is a tough one. Looks juicy but…I gotta sit this one out.

  29. Jakob-_-Creutzfeldt

It looks like California, also because it’s overcooked.

  30. I would eat almost anything. I’m fucking that up any day of the week lol I’ve seen worse

  31. hemoglobintrotter14

I’d prefer it closer to medium rare but yes I would for sure eat it. And would probably ask for seconds if I wasn’t paying.

  32. Sure_Comfort_7031

    That is a well-cooked well-done steak.

It looks like it’s good, but well done. Some people like well done. I like anwhere between Med Rare and Med Well, and that is definitely well done. BUT it doesn’t look like shoe leather, so I’m game.

  33. No_Fisherman8303

Just going to throw this out there. Lighting makes a huge difference in the color of meat. I lived in a mint green apartment and the sun reflecting off the wall made the rarest steak look cooked through. So as a
I went inside it looked raw.

  34. Nofreakncluwutimdoin

If I ordered this at a restaurant, hell no. I’m sending it back.

If I cooked this at home but wasn’t paying close enough attention and screwed it up, then that’s on me, and I’m choking it down come hell or high water 😂.

  35. lifeleavesscars

I would devour it and complain it’s overcooked as i wipe my plate. I’m fat.
