So we finally got a Dave’s Hot Chicken in our state and we went Friday. The Reaper hit, hard. My son and I suffered.

  1. I tried it because I really had to. After that, I get the one that is just under in heat. So much tastier!

Had the Extra Hot (tender/slider) yesterday at my local Dave’s (wanted to take on the Reaper but got cold feet). Absolutely amazing!

  3. Is there a sub for spicy food that isn’t filled with posts about the same place? Alternatively can we re-name this sub to r/daveshotchicken

  4. Had the reaper twice now. First time was hot, but I’ve had hotter fried chicken.

The second time… tongue went totally pins and needles immediately. Crazy hot. Couldn’t sit down, had to pace back and forth(I was at home) and really regret my decision. After it was over I felt great for an hour or so. After that my stomach started to burn. It got worse and worse thru the night. I barely slept and had diarrhea about 10 times. When I woke up the next day I had about 3 diarrhea episodes with serious nausea on top of it. Almost had to call out of work.

    9/10 highly recommend.

The reaper is gross. Hot for the sake of being hot, didn’t care for the flavor. Love their hot level though

WHICH STATE? ONE WAS SUPPOSE TO OPEN UP NEAR ME THIS WKND BUT THEY PUSHED THE OPENING DAY BACK SMH

  7. Ate reaper for like two years comfortably and then one day I took just a single bite and got so sick I was throwing up in the parking lot. Couldn’t drive or do much of anything for a few hours. I can eat whole raw habanero pods without getting sick. They started using extract or something, and changed the recipe. It’s inedible now.

  8. It’s good but overpriced I paid $18 for a combo.

Tried Dave’s based off the many recommendations on this sub. Very disappointing. Like someone else said, just hot for the sake of being hot and not great flavor.

It’s also a bit of a rip off of a local place we have in Baltimore called BRD, basically the same price and a lot higher quality. Not to mention they have like 10 house made dipping sauces that aren’t just mayonnaise with a little bit of Sriracha mixed in it.

Yeah, the Reaper is no joke. I have a pretty good spice tolerance, when I ate it, I could feel exactly where it was in my body throughout the digestive process.

Next time I got the 2nd hottest level, which was still pretty intense, but not painful. Pretty good sandwich, IMO, I liked the kale slaw. Fries were a bit too salty. They’re open late. I’d go back.
