This is really my first time growing plants so I don’t know what signs to look for. This jalapeño plant is one month old and I water it every three days. Based off my very limited knowledge, I would assume that I’m over watering it, but I’m not sure.

  1. Plant looks pretty good so far. Hard to say…

If you haven’t already, poke some holes in the bottom of that cup so it can drain and you could try watering from the bottom w/ a plate/saucer – that will encourage the roots to dig deeper & get the plant more established. Soil doesn’t look too moist, so it might just be a slow start for this seedling – once the roots are comfortable, the plant will spend more energy on the leaves & branch out. Some plant food with nitrogen can encourage more leafy growth – it’s about ready for that.

  2. It needs some sun. What zone are you in? Can at least go out during the day?

I would recommend the double cup method where with your current cup, you cut some slits on the bottom of the cup to allow for excess water to drain, as well as letting the roots not get too root bound.

Add in some rocks in the second cup to lift up your other cup a bit to give it an air gap to allow the roots to breathe.
