Is what I’m doing stupid?

This is why I opted for a side burner on my gas grill. All the smelly and fried foods get cooked there. Cast iron on the grates works too, nothing wrong with that.

  2. It’s dangerous. You need a much higher sided pan. If that’s all you have to use, be prepared to extinguish a grease fire.

I’d recommend a grill mat over the grate, under the pan to try to minimize the risk of a grease fire. It’ll let the heat through but block any spatters.

How badly do you want to keep your eyebrows?

It depends. Are you trying to start a grease fire and burn down your home? If not, then yes.

  6. The idea is workable but the pan sides need to be higher and you shouldn’t ever fill it more than half way with oil

  7. On a wooden deck? Yup

Once that’s spills over/catches fire, you’re not stopping it.

Yes it is a fire hazard and pretty pointless.

If you have to ask the internet about this, you are extremely lucky to still be alive.

  10. There are safer ways to get a new porch / house.

  11. It’s actually quite smart if you’re trying to cash in on an insurance claim.

  12. Oil…..near big azz fire potential….i hope you’re related to a firefighter

Make sure you’re wearing shorts and flip flops

What zip code are you in? I want to acclimate myself to observe the horizon in the correct direction.

Nice wooden porch you’ve got there would be a shame if…

It’s a calculated risk but boy you’re bad at math

  17. StoicSociopath

Extremely inefficient, 99% of that heat is going somewhere else.

    Harder to cook.

    Risk of grease fire.

    Heating the basket

    This is just dumb
