LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) – The Le Mars Convention Center was packed on Thursday with people joining together for good wine, good food, and a good cause.

The two-night Wine and Roses Festival kicked off with hundreds of people showing their support of the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter.

Guests and sponsors enjoyed a multi-course meal, wine from nine different winemakers and a live and silent auction.

KTIV had the chance to speak with Scott Reed of winemaker Round Pond Estate during the event. He said that Alzheimer’s disease affects more people than you think.

“So, our founder of Round Pond Estate, unfortunately, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease over a decade ago, and passed from it four years ago,” Reed said. “So once he was diagnosed, it became our champion case, our purpose at Round Pond to raise awareness, raise funds to hopefully find a cure someday for this, again, horrible disease.”

The money raised will go toward helping patients and providing operational care for the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter.
