The Cleveland Browns “have something cooking” with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
Per Cabot, “teams are calling” the Browns and their front office is “listening” to trade offers.
Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz also reported that Cleveland received “serious calls” regarding the No. 2 pick on Thursday morning and the organization believes that a “super strong” offer would come in as the draft approaches.
A potential trade between the Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars “looks like it could go down” and talks are “happening,” per Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.
The Browns will have a wide variety of prospects available to them at No. 2, but they could choose to trade down and acquire more draft capital to help round out their roster as they attempt to bounce back from a 3-14 finish in 2024.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry previously revealed that the team is open to using the No. 2 pick in a variety of ways, including possibly trading down.
“We have not made a hard decision in terms of how we’re going to utilize the No. 2 pick. There are a number of guys that we like,” Berry said, per Kelsey Russo of the team’s official website. “I think the biggest thing for us is we want to have long term players across the roster. We’re not going to necessarily force something if we don’t think the value’s right or anything along those lines.”
All of the exact teams that have reportedly contacted Cleveland are unknown, but one appears to be the Jaguars.
Rapoport previously reported that it’s “at least in the realm of conversation” that Jacksonville could move up from the No. 5 overall pick to No. 2 and select Colorado two-way standout Travis Hunter.
The first round of the 2025 draft will begin on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
