My college sells (unlabeled) plants from their greenhouse every year. I bought these, which a plant identifier app tells me they are tomatoes.

Is it true that these are tomatoes? What are my next steps as far as caring for them, should I transfer them into pots outside (I am located in the mid-Atlantic area of the U.S.) or keep them inside for longer?

Thanks for any help!

Give em a sniff. Do they have a kind of funky smell?

Yes tomatoes! Were they grown inside? Look into hardening them off and what your last frost is based on your zip code. They likely need potted up at least to a solo cup with potting mix if you’re too early to plant out at this time.

  3. they definitely look like them. tomatoes have a very distinct, very green smell. grab a tomato on the vine/with a stem from your grocery store, roll the leaves/stem between your fingers a bit, and give it a whiff. you’ll be able to tell

They are indeed tomatoes. Need to harden them off and plant them out if the last frost date for your location has past.
