In the early 2000s there was a bakery called Financier in Grand Central station— it closed down during the pandemic. I’ve been searching for the cake from this bakery for years as it was my go-to birthday cake when I was growing up! It’s the frasier cake (image shown) and though I know it’s probably impossible to revive this bakery – would anyone know any bakeries in NYC that make frasier cakes? Or how I could find someone who can replicate the recipe? The frasier cake from Financier had a unique thin chocolate layer bottom, which differentiated it from other frasiers I have had.
