South Georgia, hot and humid. I am late to planting for the 3rd year in a row. I've waited too long to plant a lot of the things I wanted to plant this season, and really need to write down a good schedule to follow throughout the year for my area. What do you think about my setup? I'm a 27 yo mechanic, so most of my friends don't care about gardening in the slightest. Peppers, cucumbers and squash are my go to plants, and I am attempting melons for the first time this season. Learning about what I can plant and when is fun but a challenge to keep on top of the schedule. I used this same space last year but hurricanes and other bad weather washed away a lot of the dirt I had added to the area. How am I doing and does anyone from this area have tips on what I should be doing throughout the year?

Wow this looks great! It’s not too late to plant some cherry or early producing tomatoes varieties. You could plant some bush beans and maybe some sweet potatoes. You could also start an artichoke and have it producing by next spring!

Love it, lots of hard work there!

I have some of those same cement blocks, and if I fit them together like puzzle pieces weeds are less likely to grow between the cracks. Those blocks are solid to help contain soil from washing away, too. And my own vines (cucumbers, squash…) grow right over them, so I give little structures for upward growth toward that sweet summer sunshine.

Good luck, looks like loads of veggie-growing fun that’ll save you from the higher grocery store prices!

Your garden area is GORGEOUS!! You did an awesome job!

And I had gotten a late start planting for 14 years! This is the first year that I had all my beds ready and all I had to do was put the plants and seeds in the ground.

I hope you have a fantastic harvest!
