Got wagyu beef on a stick at a busy tourist site. Proprietor was very orderly would tell other customers to choto matte while serving me.

1000 yen for a skewer of offcuts?

I hate to break it to you, but that’s a tourist trap. Doesn’t look very good and super expensive.

Respectfully…that’s a terrible deal for terrible cuts of product that are effectively costed. Good on him for being a marketing genius though.

Upvote for the fact it’s actually Japanese food at least

As others mentioned this is usually off cuts sort of mushed together. Now it may still be tasty since it has a lot of fat but you won’t get the same sort of thing as actual proper cuts of Wagyu.

You can find all you can eat wagyu barbecue placed in Japan for not that much money.

Most of steet vendors that sell Wagyu are a ripoff. They always show some nice photos of A5 marbling and then they pull out some random beef.

saw these for more than 2300 yen along sakaimachi in Otaru this winter…smelt so good, but not for that price

    expensive.
I dont buy wagyu beef near the tourist places.
We book a 18 course meal in some local restaurant. Cheap

  9. What an odd post. Says nothing about the actual food. Instead only mentions the owner was orderly and said “chotte matte”.

  10. While I would usually see this for around 800 yen at a local festival or roadside station, I’m going to go against the grain here and say that doesn’t seem to be too bad a deal. The meat honestly looks big, and if I could get one right off the grill, that sounds nice! Just gotta have a beer in the other hand.

Man america is fucked dude, all i could think was “even for trash cuts 10$ is a pretty good deal for this much food”

That looks terrible quality though. Not all cuts of wagyu is good, a lot is only good for slow cooking.

BUT, you enjoyed it, was happy with the place and have great memories of your Japan holiday … that’s the most important thing.

Wagyu is just a name for japanese cattle and does not indicate any quality, as clearly indicated in the photo..
