Caribbean Gourmet is a gem in San Gabriel. Tonight my whole family ordered the same thing – oxtail. The meat itself is fall off the bone with delicious flavor. The rice and beans are rich and even a bit sweet. The plantains tonight were like candy, and not at all oily like can sometimes happen. The stewed cabbage was crisp and fresh, but also flavorful. Try the habanero sauce – it’s incredibly spicy, but oh so flavorful.
Each plate was $24 for oxtail. That’s the priciest thing on the menu. Jerk chicken is also excellent, and I believe was $17 for the full plate.
