VINA, Calif. – New Clairvaux Vineyard in Vina is celebrating a significant milestone this summer.

The vineyard marks 25 years since the first vines in the St. James and Poor Souls blocks were planted.

Members of the public are invited to attend the 19th Annual Blessing of the Grapes, which will take place on July 26, 2025.

Officials say that the vineyard’s journey began with the monks of New Clairvaux and the Sunseri wine making family reviving land once farmed by California wine pioneer Peter Lassen.

In 2005, New Clairvaux’s tasting room opened on a hot summer day, attracting over 2,000 guests and selling out their first white wine, the 2004 St. James Block Albarino.

The vineyard soon gained recognition, winning a gold medal with their 2007 Poor Souls Block Trebbiano at the 2008 San Diego International Wine Competition.

Winemaker Aimée Sunseri, a fifth-generation winemaker, leads the vineyard with innovation and tradition. Her accolades include Woman Winemaker of the Year in 2017 and 2023.

The event kicks off at 9:00 AM with a Monk Market and the blessing ceremony at 10:30 AM, led by Abbot Father Paul Mark Schwan. Guests will be able to enjoy wine tastings and a selection of food from local food vendors.

Everyone from the local community is welcome to join in this celebration of history, community, and wine making.
