but it really means some kind of style of drinking. You buy beer cans from local stores, but instead of getting back home, you just sit there. there usually are some plastic chairs and tables outside most of convenience stores, so you just sit there, open your can, rip open your whatever snacks from the store… and what for dip? but as there is no pantry there, you have to improvise…
Or you just came back from work, holding some nice still-cold beer cans from the store. You don’t want to cook for yourself now, obviously. But you still need snack. Open the pantry, and thank me yesterday, got a muktae here. Now i need some dip, fast…
Little bit of gochujang little bit of mayo little bit of this and that and yay!
So 가맥 is, i’d say, “improvised out of convenience stores style”. It is basically gochujang mayo with a kick of Cheongyang hot 🌶️.
