My mom bought food from an Asian fusion food truck and is obsessed with this sauce. She said she can taste fish sauce, cilantro, and Thai green chillies. She wants me to make it for her for Mother’s Day so I’m hoping i can find out what it’s called and make it for her

If it’s fish sauce and cilantro, it’s not really Korean. Vietnam, Thai, and SEA in general will be your best bet to look at.

It’s a spicy pepper dipping sauce. There’s many many variations. I like to make mine lemony.

    Red Thai chili pepper

    Cilantro

    Green onion (optional)

Lemon juice from fresh lemons (optional & fresh is better. You dont have to use.)

    Fish sauce

Garlic (Optional if you love garlic and would like garlic breath)

MSG (optional – a pinch is fine. Do not use alot.)

The spiciness depends on the pepper. I personally like it smashed/crushed before adding/mixing liquids. It’s up to your discretion. If it’s too spicy, you can add in sugar, but that would make it sweet or add water to dilute.

Start small so you can control it to your tasting. I hope this helps!

NOT KOREAN …. Its 100% Lao/ Isaan food.

Thai/ Lao person here. Its called Lao Jeow som. Basic condiment we serve with meats. ( its an all around condiment tbh but I only serve it with meat. I eat sweet Jeow bong with everything else. LOL)

Adjust ingredients to your liking after looking at basic recipe. ( from a Lao source please. The Thai ones a a bit different)

Have you tasted it?? Fusion sounds like they’re not especially korean.

Looks like a lot of scallions with the cilantro, i would assume soy sauce the fish sauce, chilies and some sort of vinegar and a touch of sugar

It looks and sounds like nuoc cham, a Vietnamese dipping sauce
