I personally would not. Maybe others know better, but I’m looking to cook not for a ceramic repair project. That’s just me.

It’s replaceable. If they’re the original owner have them file a warranty claim.

mine is missing green chunks all over the place. firepit is cracked and it cooks just the same. bought it used and it’s probably 15-20 years old

My xl base was cracked when I got it. 5 years later it still works

I believe you can use furnace cement to repair it, but I’ve never done it, so can’t confirm for sure. It will probably look ugly, but be functional.

What are they charging and what is the going price for a base in your area? If those two added up is significantly cheaper than a new egg, I’d at least consider it, depending on what was included, overall shape of everything.

  7. is there one with a broken top that you can also buy?

Buy it you getting it for cheap someone said they were able to repair theirs and I bet you could get a few cooks without repair

Huge part of the equation is price, without knowing the price its impossible to say if you should buy.

Only if it comes with the receipt. It might not survive transport as is

I’ve had a similar crack for 10 years now. Even moved it. Mine has been fine

Is the seller the original owner? If so I would ask them to claim their warranty for a replacement before buying. Otherwise hard pass on buying.
