Yes. I believe that is a lady bug and they are predators to aphids.

If I’m correct that’s makes them your best friend!

Yes, it’s a friend, and also because it has two dots – you’ll be lucky!

Looks like a Asian Lady Beetle ( A bit hard to say from this photo ). If so, it eats aphids just like the ladybug, but it can also eat pollen etc from the plants, if there are no pests around.

  4. BTW, please Google now what a ladybird (or ladybug if you’re in the US) larvae looks like. They’re slightly creepy looking creatures but eat even more aphids as larvae than they do fully grown. Worth knowing what they look like so you don’t freak out and kill them (I made this mistake last year 🤦).

Let me know if he needs a place to stay — I’ve got plenty of his friends in my garden as we speak. Super chill dudes

The reference to ‘lady’ in the insect’s name in many European languages is to Mary, mother of Jesus in Christian tradition. r/etymologymaps/comments/6itfdz/the_word_ladybug_in_various_european_languages_oc/

I found one of these in my hoop house the other day and almost wept happy tears. So yes, you want them. 😂
