I have the ring on tight all away around and there is still a gap. Is this normal?

Just shimmy everything around a bit until you have even spacing. You can do this without taking off the ring.

You may want to have the notches in the ring go to 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions though

The gap is needed for airflow. As long the tops of all of the petals are inside the ring and not leaning against the interior wall you are golden.

Yeah you’ve done that wrong the top of the spherical blocks should slot into the ring it’s a bit tricky to do but the ring holds all the blocks tight so that you get proper air flow.
