If you need to pass time while mealprepping, your process is far from optimal. Do dishes instead or something… nobody needs to spend MORE time in the kitchen.

If I’m not doing dishes or prepping something else I’m doing other weekend chores. Laundry, cleaning the bathroom, etc.

I’m busy the entire time. I may have two meals going at once and cutting up salad fixings. Not to mention making breakfast sandwiches and snack bags before, during, or after. I don’t have any downtime. It literally takes 2.5-3 hours from start to finish including packaging and cleanup.

I drink whiskey and dance around to my college-era (2005-2009) BANGERS playlist. I do this weekly.

I wonder how much money that book has made

Lol this is a cute idea but I am busting my ass for like 3 hours straight fully in a trance.

I exercise, do dishes or clean. I cannot leave the kitchen or Ill forget about the food, does anyone else stand as opposed to sitting?
CalmCupcake2
Clean, do dishes, do additional prep. If I plan well, there is zero downtime.

Listen to Podcast episodes in the background when cooking/washing, and occasionally catching up on calls with certain tasks leading up to meal prepping later in the week. Multitasking this way seems to work for me.

Audiobooks and podcasts during the active part. While things are in the oven, instant pot, slow cooker I watch TV.

Depending on how fast or slow the food needs to cook, I either watch clips of games I play or play on my Switch in the kitchen within direct line of sight of the stove. I’d read a book, but I’ve read all the books in my library already, while I still have a lot of games in my Switch digital library to start playing, never mind my PlayStation library.

I’m gonna be honest, I’ve almost never had a spare moment while cooking, unless it’s something that has to bake or simmer for a set amount of time. Even then I’m almost always prepping or cooking a side dish or something. The people who always say “clean as you go!” baffle me. What do you mean? How do you ever have a spare minute to wash a freaking dish? The pot needs stirring, you have to peel the potatoes before the next step, the bread has to go in the oven in three minutes and you haven’t gotten it on the baking sheet yet!
I’m pretty severely ADHD so maybe that’s it.

I’m busy for 3-4 hours cooking different meal for each day🤣 I do listen to music, sing and dance tho!

I put on videos like Acre Homestead, Laura Legge, or Scandish Home because you don’t have to look at them the whole time, and listening keeps me motivated and food-focused. My reward after I’m done is sitting down to watch videos from either Under a Tin Roof, It’s a Charmed Life, or Farm on 212th, etc. I like the cozy!

Listen to music, maybe two step a little. But umm, cooking is pretty much the thing I do while cooking.

I like to take little breaks when I’m doing a big meal prep session, I’m old and fat and my back needs a little rest. I will play a quick online game and then get back up and do some more. I’ve conditioned my brain to get up whenever I finish a level of a game. I’ve even found myself getting up without any task that needed to be done, just because I finished a level of a game. I choose games that are like 2-5 minutes long per level.

I’ll go for a quick walk light one up and get to it. That’s what I did yesterday and I felt good.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I cooked, let alone prep anything for the week. Shit I can’t remember the last time I cooked rice.

“When I was your age cooking still consisted of cooking my boy. We even had to set the timer by hand.”
“Sure granma, let’s get you into your VR therapy and have Chat GPT fix you a nice lasagna.”
For real, I listen to a podcast/music and clean as I go or prep the next thing while stuff bakes or cooks down. And sometimes I do squats in front of the microwave.

Honestly I’m catching up on podcasts I didn’t have time for during the week
