I usually eat 1250 calories per day but I keep getting these notifications that 1200 is too less for me. Should I increase my daily calorie intake?

What i would recommend is going on a calorie calculator website, putting in your stats, basically your gender, age, amount of exercise and etc… after that you will get a couple of numbers that should tell you how much calories you need to consume

1200 is to little, to explain it in a simple way, if you eat less, you will lose weight, if you don’t eat at all, you will also lose weight, just not in a healthy way. Our bodies still need a good amount of proteins and carbohydrates, if you deprive your body of said nutrients by eating to little, you will lose some weight yes, but it wont be sustainable, and youll hit a plateau faster than you expect.

And if youre trying to lose fat, by not eating enough protein, youre not gonna lose fat, youre gonna lose weight, not fat.

If you go premium, MyNetDiary has a nice Autopilot feature which will calculate your calories based on your calorie intake and weight loss. If you eat 2000 calories a day and lose 500 grams a week, for example, it will take into account that you’ll still lose weight while eating 2000 calories a day and adjusts your daily calorie intake needs accordingly.

I strongly disagree with those saying 1200 is too little. If you feel ok eating 1200, stick with it

I was eating 1200 for a bit and Im a 6’5″ man. Yes it was heavy defecit and I only stayed with it for a couple weeks to finish my cut, but I was also working out very hard and still functioning fine for the most part. I was 1500 prior to that, still very low and probably comparable or even lower than a woman on 1200. I lost 37 lbs in 70 days on a progressively lower calorie count. Again, aggressive, but it worked

I did not hit any of the so called “plateaus”, but when weight loss slowed, I shaved more calories. Rinse and repeat.

So as a woman, yes, this is 100% an acceptable calorie count. You could probably get away with more calories as others have suggested, but if you’re comfortable at 1200, stuck with it.

    Good luck!

Edit: I’d also like to add that I’ve been eating 1300cal everyday for 4 months so far and feel great! (I’m also short at 5’3”). No loss of energy, strength hasn’t lessened. Hitting all the macros and micros with a deficit that low is tough, but not impossible.

My deficit is around the same as yours, with the same calorie maintenance numbers roughly. Not much help but i suggest getting a fitbit that tracks your heart rate, since it gives you an estimate of his many calories you’re burning. I base how much i eat off of how many i actually burn, since the stats are on the app and i don’t have consistent workout habits.
