I used to make them that way before I had a smoker. I put them in the instant pot and then broiled afterwards. They were good, but not nearly as good as smoked. No comparison.

A good friend of mine wanted to have a rib off. His vs mine. We had mine first, cooked low and slow offset on a Weber kettle. Very simple just a rub that I like and slow smoked and sauced at the end.
His involved 20 ingredients but he cooked them in the oven and then finished on the grill.
They didn’t exactly look like this because at least they had sauce and seasoning but he kind of just drizzled the BBQ sauce on and didn’t brush it so it kind of looked like this. Also obviously no smoke ring. They weren’t the worst, but they just kind of tasted like an oven baked pork roast and not really what I think of when I think of ribs.

This looks like the picture when people are in hospitals on antibiotics and they say they don’t want to eat because everything has a weird taste. Like you think you are getting good ribs and this is what your mouth tastes.
No specific location needed but what state is this? Like not a state known to have good smoked bbq I assume. Even then I’d expect better looking meats at a restaurant.
