  1. Why is it pre-peeled? Also that price seems strange—where do you live that red onions are $3 a pound…

  2. DiRtY_DaNiE1

$2.99 a pound, holy moly… You need to shop somewhere else

  3. Thats buying the more processed “peeled” one.

  4. OP buying single onions at some random overpriced store.

Red onions are usually $1 to 1.50 lb near me.

Much higher than they used to be a couple years ago, but not 3/lb

  5. wrangler2772

1.49/lb where I’m at. But, ya know, I peal my own. Like a peasant.

  6. virgothesixth

Why would you want it pre peeled? Didn’t even know this was a thing

  7. 1911a1zombie

I got 1 in my cart for .94 cents at Walmart . Time for you to shop elsewhere dude.

  8. maerdyyth

it’s like 90c/lb here that’s definitely not how it is in the states in general

  9. Downtown-Custard5346

Remember when we thought George W. Bush was a bad president?

  10. cleeeland

I’ve paid roughly $1.00 for *unpeeled* onions at regular grocery stores in San Diego, CA and Columbus, OH this year. Your example doesn’t really represent “the states” as many others have noted.

  11. BurstWaterPipe1

UK here, I get an onion for about £0.15 from the supermarket

  12. DangerousCobbler3175

I bought a white onion today for 1.30 per 1 LBS

  13. 13_Years_Then_Banned

I just bought a 5lb bag yesterday at Costco for $4.00

  14. Odd_Contact_2175

No clue where OP is or what grocery store he goes to but this is not the normal for the US.

  15. Send_that_shit

I’m in California bro, arguably the most expensive state, I got no problems buying onions on the cheap and my grocery store is unionized.

  16. MGeezy9492

OP purposefully shops at expensive stores in order to fear monger. Pretty sad ☹️

  17. Big_Writer2484

Just picked up a 20 pound bag for $8 so things are going pretty damn well in the states if you ask me

  18. EasyDriver_RM

My onions are free. We grow four varieties of onion bulbs, bunching onions, walking onions, shallots, and two types of garlic. Alliums rule!

  19. 546875674c6966650d0a

Why are you buying PEELED onions!?? OP paid the lazy tax over about 4 seconds of work, and lost out on the joy of peeling it too. Tsk Tsk.

  20. BruceBoyde

Mate, they’re 0.99¢ per pound at Fred Meyer, which is the more expensive of the two stores I shop. Was that thing hand-reared and massaged by Japanese onion experts or something?

  21. Training_Excuse6278

Expensive near me is .70. upward of a dollar max per. And there are several cities nearby that are even cheaper

  22. Yesterday I bought a single green pepper for $2.49. Ontario, Canada.

  23. GallusWrangler

Are you in California? Don’t say how it’s going in the states like that price is everywhere. They’re like a dollar here, or less.

  24. ODX_GhostRecon

I grabbed a 10lb bag of Vidalia onions at Sam’s Club the other day for about $6. I have one left, but still.

  25. braddad425

    Lol…OP that’s an L for you, friend. If you’re buying onions for $2.50 a piece…you’re a sucker

  26. TheCenterTesticle

Yes . PLEASE OP. Bring politics into r/onionlovers

  27. braddad425

    Lol…OP that’s an L for you, friend. If you’re buying onions for $2.50 a piece…you’re a sucker

Edit: I live in a higher cost metropolitan city in the US. That’s not standard.

  28. lulamirite

Title is a little sensationalized lol.

So less to do with the state of things in the US and more to do with you being willing to pay the charges that come with the convenience of location and preparation for that peeled red onion.

82 cents here if I choose to order online and pay the markup.

  29. Starfleeter

I have only ever seen absurdly prices inions at Whole Foods. Their produce prices are insane and a big reason I won’t shop there. They also have such shit quality and taste in their house brand and have a horrible selection if that isn’t what you’re looking for.

  30. DailyUpsAndDowns

Y’all need to venture out into other establishments start shopping around for better prices or start growing your own. Be a little more adventurous in life

  31. SmokingNiNjA420

They’re still only $1.29/lbs in more expensive parts of Los Angeles.

  32. Slipsearch

I’d cry, but onions were the only way I could and now…

  35. Rare-Asparagus-8902

Idk where you live, but it seems like you’re just hate mongering. I’m all about dishing out hate to either side of the political spectrum, but dont spread bullshit to do it. There are enough real things to hate about.
