For me grilling takes me back to my childhood and fond memories of my dad. My dad didn’t get many days off and worked nights and weekends, but he would grill for us whenever he got a free day. Now I grill for my kids and it’s something they look for.
Why do you grill?

Meat plus fire. Good.
Is there no airflow for those coals? It looks like there’s barely any heat.
I grill therefore I am.
To eat
It’s fun, it tastes good, plus it doesn’t heat up my house. Not to mention the cleanup is super easy.
To keep the kitchen clean
It’s an expensive hobby I justify by turning planned leftovers into meal prep proteins
Food over fire just tastes so much better, feels good too to cook outside
Grilling is life
As a pastime.
You spend your childhood being told not to play with fire. Then, one day, you grow up and realize it’s exactly as awesome as you always imagined.
You can do a full meal without having to wash a single pot and/or pan
Being able to cook what you want is the ultimate luxury. Plus I enjoy the creative aspect, it’s relaxing from my usual job of being an engineer.
Once I turned 40, I stopped caring about going to the bars. Nothing beats sitting on the patio with a cocktail and grilling dinner. I’ll put a baseball game on and just enjoy the experience. It’s so much better than going out and having a $50 bartab for shitty food and drinks when I can spend that much and have leftovers for days.
I live in a small house in Arizona, cooking inside makes it almost unbearable to live in if you want a reasonable AC bill. Also, hard to not crack open a beer on a hot day when you’re standing next to a grill.
it’s an excuse to step outside and enjoy a beer and also it’s a better excuse to take a 20 min break from the wife
Because no re restaurant will serve decent bbq. It’s always reheated garbage.
I like eating meat and grilling takes the least amount of cleaning lol
It’s so easy. (Esp if you get an infrared grill)
I turn 50 in a month or so…wife sets up party. Ask what I would like to do, I said cook. Short ribs and brisket for about 50 people. I do it because I can, and it makes me happy that others can enjoy that. That’s it. Plain and simple.
Just a hobby, and dinner for family. I try to grill 2-4x a week if I can.
I also sell some smoked nuts with a seasoning that I make from scratch.
It tastes better than the stove. Open flame is best, in my opinion, though
Food tastes better.
I’m hangry
Grilled food tastes better
Mostly cuz it’s mad delish. It’s kinds fun too except in the middle of summer in Texas
It’s the only form of cooking I’m somewhat good at.

Grilling, for me is nostalgic, it’s also a time to bring friends and family closer. To tell stories and talk about the past. To make memories and make traditions.
The look on people faces when they eat good food is incredible and satisfying.
Because I bought the grill for my husband and after a couple years of only Father’s Day burgers and hot dogs I decided I was just going to take the present back 😂🤣
As a WFH mechanical engineer, cooking meat and veg over an open flame makes me feel like a man again. I feel like a real provider preparing food in such a simple and primal way. It’s cliche, but it’s how I feel.
Also charred meats just taste better.
