  1. Look for YouTube videos comparing the two. That always helps me.

I have the backyard beast, it’s done very well for me, it holds temp perfectly, gets up to temp in a reasonable amount of time, and is easy to clean(also makes pretty decent smoke rings if thats something you care about). I can’t speak for the weber as I’ve never had one. I had some trouble with the temp overshooting to high on startup with the recteq when I started but after a couple of cooks and a slight feed rate adjustment it seemed to learn as it went and is perfect now. Had mine for about a year no issues, I like that it doesn’t have a smoke stack for storage reasons I don’t have a lot of room where I keep it. But the only down side to that is if you want you can’t add the recteq smoke box for cold smoking. I couldn’t compare the two but I think you’d be happy with the backyard beast.

  3. Funny enough, the Searwood xl is 300 bucks less than the Backyard Beast in Canada. Went with the Searwood

I’ve had my recteq for 7 years. Highly recommend it. Easy to clean, produces great smoke, gets up to 700° which great for searing. I cook on mine very weekend and it’s solid, even in the winter!

For this price point I recommend the Camp Chef woodwind pro. An amazing pellet with the added benefit of being able to add some wood for extra smoke + being able to control the smoke.

I can’t speak for that Weber grill though I’ve had many Weber products such as the kettle and SMG. But my Recteq is such a solid piece of equipment. I cook everything on it and it’s so reliable. I keep it clean and ready to go for any day. Easy to maintain and use. Temps stay steady.
I have the RT-590. One day I’ll upgrade to a higher end model or brand but right now it fits my lifestyle. Quick and minimal effort.

I’d go weber, but I’m a weber guy. Reqtecs are supposed to be great though. Personally, I don’t like the way they look.
I don’t think you’ll be unhappy either way

Honestly at those prices, I’d go with the Traeger 780 pro.

  9. I have that reqtec and I love it. I have had 0 issues out of it. And if you do have to email support they are very responsive.

If you saw them side by side in person you’d most likely go recteq. Their build quality is outstanding.

When I was shopping I started at Lowe’s. Checked Home Depot. Went to Tractor Supply and even Rural King. As soon as I saw the Recteq grills at Ace Hardware I was done. They’re just miles ahead. Everything else felt like a cheap toy compared to the premium build of the Recteqs. They really are S-Tier. Can’t go wrong.

[bbqguys.com](http://bbqguys.com) has 10% off when you sign up for text promos. Weber just went up $100 though, I got it for $1200 – 10% and 10% off all accessories too.

I have 2 Recteqs and love them. If I’m buying honest id shell out the extra 300 bucks and buy the dual fire. You can have an all in one cooker. However you won’t go wrong with the backyard beast if you don’t want to go up to 1500.
