How would I count the calories per gram in this rice? I measured 2 cups approximately 420g dry and used this whole can of tomato sauce. Google says this much rice is over 1200 calories which seems like a lot. Anyone able to help with this?

Yes, 420g of that rice is about 1500 calories. The whole can of tomatoes (without seeing exactly how many grams is in it) is roughly 90 calories.

    160/45=3.555, 3.555×420=1,493

Use a digital food scale if you don’t have one. Divide to find calories per gram. Multiply by how much you are using.

2 cups of dry rice is 4 cups of cooked rice. That is accurate.

it seems like a lot because that’s a lot of rice lol

first question: 3.555…. cals per gram simply divide the 160cals listed by the serving size of 45g

second question: 1/4 cup is labeled at 160cals, just times it by 8 for two cups for 1280 so google isnt trolling you.

but weight is more accurate always than volume so use your 420g

take the 3.555… times 420 and youll actually get more (1493cals)

420g dry rice is like 5 portions so yeah. A lot.

I always measure cooked if I’m making a big batch and measure dry if I’m making a single serve amount. 1 cup of cooked rice is about 200 cal, that’s a perfect portion IMO. But a cup of dry rice is like 700 since it comes out to a lot more once cooked
