LENTIL SOUP (MERCİMEK ÇORBASI)
Ingredients:
-1 glass(200 ml) red lentils
-1 onion
-1 carrot
-1 potato
-50 ml olive oil
– 1 and a half liters (1,5) of drinking water
– Salt
-1/2 teaspoon of cumin and black pepper

For the sauce;
-1 tablespoon butter
-1 teaspoon red pepper powder

Hi everyone, this is Jasmine. I am instructure chef and also a professional chef and I I am giving you our traditional Turkish foods recipe. Today we will make our very special food. It’s not a food but it’s really beginner of our uh kitchen. Uh it’s a soup. It’s lentil soup. We called it march in Turkish and it is really important for our kitchen in Turkish kitchen. You can find all ingredients at the end of the video. Uh don’t worry about it. Just I can say you about uh how we can make our lentil soup. Just a little bit some important points in here. The lentil is you have to wash your lentil so good and you have to remove uh the starch on it. It’s really important. And after that we are using some onions, carrots, potato and uh drinking water and the important thing is olive oil and little with some spices, black pepper, cumin and uh salt. Yes, I can’t remember the name salt. And for the top, for the sauce, we can use a little bit um paprika. If you want, you can use spicy one or you can use the another one. It’s not important. And some uh I forgot the name. Butter is butter. And some butter for the top. Okay. for the sauce. First of all, you have to use a very hot pan. Okay, it’s really important. And now if you are ready, we can start. First of all, you have to use very hot pan. And after that, you can add your hot pan on olive oil. And you have to wait. It’s coming hot. After that when it’s coming hot you can add your onions and like this like half moon spice as you can see we can add all of them [Music] After the onions have cooked for 2 minutes, you can add the potatoes and carrots. [Music] and mix them [Music] all. And you can cook about 2 minutes again all together. Okay. [Music] After cooking our vegetables together for 2 minutes, we add the washed lentils and continue to mixing. We are adding all of them. And continue to mix it. Just about one or two minutes is enough for [Music] us. After 2 minutes, we can add our spices and salt. The cumin is really important for our march soup. And mix it again. And now we can add our drinking water. and mix it again. Just once or twice is enough for us. And now we close our pan and just wait when it’s coming boiling and after that we have to wait about 30 minutes. We make our soup with drinking water. But if you wish you can also add one cup of vegetable, meat or chicken stock. After the s soup boiling, we turn the heat down a little. And when your lentil soup is boiled, you can see form on top it. And you have to remove all of this foam. You have to remove all of them. It’s really important for us for this recipe. Also, you need to check the soup from time to time and repeat the process of removing the foam. It’s really important. After our soup has cooked about 25 minutes, we put the soup in the blender to get smooth surface. And after this process, we cook our uh soup about five or 10 minutes again. Okay, it’s really important. In this time we can prepare our sauce of our soup and we mix it. And when it’s finished, you have to take again all the forms. It’s really important. You have to take all of them. And for now, we can do our sauce again. When our soup is cooking, we will do our sauce. This is butter. When it’s coming liquid, we can add our paprika. Now we can add our pepper and mix it about just 1 minute. Okay. Not so long. Just 1 minute is enough for us. And close. And now you can add your sauce and mix your soup again. As you can see, it’s really good. And you can serve it like that in a bowl. And also you can put a little bit sauce top of it. It looks really good and gorgeous. Look at this color. Oh my god, this is really good. And after 35 minutes later, our lentil soup is ready. It is really good time because this is the most uh most wonderful time for me is tasting time.
