I headed to Hot Pork (Dundas W at Grace) intrigued by today’s sandwich special: smoked duck confit with cassoulet. The smoked leg meat had nicely crisp skin and topped with luscious cassoulet studded with smoky pork belly bits. All this surprisingly stayed mostly intact within the crusty bun. Had all of the vibes and deliciousness of the classic bistro dish but in sandwich form.
I guess I shouldn’t have doubted how this would come together. Earlier this year they had another insanely improbable sandwich special: bangers and mash. It was a sausage patty topped with a potato pancake and gravy. This is now on their regular menu.
Definitely one of the more creative and tasty sandwich shops in town.
