When it comes to Fogo, I only ever see recs for the gold or black bags. At least at the Ace Hardware I get charcoal at, it’s the same price as the black bag. Granted, I’m still new to this, so it could be due to inexperience, but I have actually liked cooking with it more than I did the black bag I previously had. The lump size is great, there are some huge ones in there, they’re easy enough to snap into smaller pieces if you need to, and seem to burn quite a bit longer than the black bag. Flavor wasn’t really any different from what I could tell. Again, still new to this, so I could just be getting better at fire starting/management, and maybe I’m just not tasting something others are when it comes to smoke flavor. Only other brands I have used are KJ and Royal Oak. While the top of my KJ bag had some great lumps, a lot of the bottom half was tiny pieces (that could be shipping’s fault though). Royal Oak definitely had a noticeably smokier flavor, which while good for some stuff, I am not always looking for. Not to mention it had several rocks, one that was the size of half a brick. And I haven’t tried Jealous Devil yet since it’s not stocked at the hardware stores I go to, so I can’t speak on that. But so far, for regular cooks, I think this green bag has been my favorite.

Around here the only in store options are black and gold Fogo. I’ve never seen green bags in stores.
This is the first time I’ve seen the green bag 🧐
Never seen green bag! Would absolutely try it
Never seen the green bags, just the black and gold. Comment here is for my experience with the gold bags:
I normally go with KJ big block bags, but my local shop were out and I had to go with Fogo this past weekend. I’m reminded of why I don’t choose it normally — Fogo is always extremely crackly for me. It pops like fireworks and flakes get everywhere. The smoke flavor is also a bit less potent than I like. Smoke flavor difference between KJ and Fogo is very noticeable.
I wouldn’t just because it’s eucalyptus and the thought of if it’s not fully curred releasing toxic smoke would drive my anxiety to 9.
The shop where I get my full has 15 different lump charcoals from six brands. It will take two or three years fr to or k thru tm all.
Probably because it’s only available where eucalyptus grows? Which is very few places…
