I'm considering purchasing a brand-new Weber Searwood XL 600 from a private seller, which comes with a Weber griddle, rotisserie, and cover for $1000. However, I'm concerned about the warranty. Can I claim it as a second owner?

Unless he registered it, you probably could. I would buy it if you didn’t and it were local to me.

From webers website.
Keeping the receipt or proof of purchase for your Weber grill and accessories is a good idea in case you ever need to take advantage of the warranty. Warranties are not transferable. They apply to the original purchaser of the grill only. So if your relative, friend or neighbor decides to give you their old grill it will not have any warranty coverage.

Strange that someone would be selling all that for $1000 but glad you got a good deal.

I have to know- what’s the story behind someone selling a brand new smoker?

Likely a work gift related to sales. I got a Weber Summit years ago when I was in banking.
