If you’ve only got one plant and your neighbors don’t grow them you probably won’t get any fruit. They need pollen from a different plant to produce.

They make good salsa.

I’m gonna go against the grain here, I think this is a ground cherry and not a tomatillo. My tomatillos have straight edge leaves, not jagged

I definitely agree with the tomatillo folks. I bought a maple tree last year and a couple months after it was in the ground I noticed that exact plant popping up all around where we dug and put in the tree. I beleive it was in the dirt where we got the tree. Even more so because my neighbor bought trees from the same place and she had stow away tomatillo plants too
HuhCrazy
Tomatillo no doubt.

Quick – plant another one so you get fruit. They’re so delicious and productive

It’s a tomatillo! You need two to pollinate so go buy another. Yay for you!

It’s right up against a fence. Bird pooped it out. That was how we ended up with a really cool mulberry tree right next to our fence.
